Severance - A Series Inspired Party

I was drawn to the eerie and unsettling world of the TV series, Severance. The atmosphere of the show inspired me to create an immersive themed party that invited guests to momentarily step into a similar universe.

The project began with the creation of a fictional company, Oakwood. Guests received physical invitations in the form of employment letters (Fig. 1), formally welcoming them into the organisation.

Attendance had to be confirmed by RSVPing to a custom email address, contact@oakwood.com (now inactive), along with an ID photo. On the day of the event, each guest was issued a custom Oakwood lanyard (Figs. 3a–b), completing the illusion of corporate induction.

The space was transformed using atmospheric lighting sourced from Carousell. At the centre stood a long dinner table, with two plastic bottles, each holding a single stalk of lily—a small gesture toward the quiet eeriness and controlled minimalism of the show. (Fig.2a-c)

Posters from the series lined the walls to enhance the series reference (Fig. 3), while a reception desk (Fig. 4a-c) greeted guests at the entrance, doubling as a photo moment. 

A custom Oakwood logo animation played continuously on the TV and on an iPad at the reception desk throughout the night, reinforcing the fictional corporate identity.

The evening unfolded through pizzas, drinks, and a series of office-themed games, blurring the line between corporate ritual and celebration.
